PTA - 1952
Before Cheatham Park Elementary School was built, the old Main Street School was a 1st thru 8th grade school. In 1952 Cheatham Park was built and the 1st thru 5th grades moved from the old Main Street School building to CPES. Rather than have a PTA for both school, they decided to continue as one committee for both school. Dues for members was $1.00. There were 202 members. The president of the P.T.A. was Mrs. Allen Killom.
On October 25, 1952, the first School Carnival was held at Cheatham Park. Now 56 years after the first carnical at CPES, we will again be holding the carnival on Oct. 25, 2008 !!!!! Some of the people on the carnival committee in 1952 were: Mrs. Robert DeBerry, Mrs. Jimmy Eaton, Mrs. Wilks Glover, and Mrs. Highsmith. A cash prize of $2.50 was given to the child selling the most carnival and supper tickets for the carnival in 1952.
